HOTELS FOR EARLY ARRIVAL
MUNICH AIRPORT Hotel Kempinski Airport Munich - this 5-star hotel is right on the airport property and will allow you to meet the group refreshed on Monday, July 21.
FREISING - off Airport hotel - nearby Airport (short taxi ride) Bayerischer Hof in Freising - past Planet Hockey families have been very happy staying here. It is a historically protected building in Freising's old town built in 1840 in neo-gothic style. It was built on the site of an old brewery, but the Dettenhofer family has been running the place since 1889. It's a cozy little place with 22 double rooms and 48 single rooms. You can see an English review of the place here. Unfortunately, they don't have a website, but you can send a fax to 011-49-08161 538339. I don't think they take credit cards either - last time they just took took my word for it and held the room - very charming. Their price is around 80 Euros for a double (they are also listed in the DK Guidebook)
FREISING - off Airport hotel - nearby Airport (short taxi ride) Isarhotel - Freising is another choice in Freising - a bit more modern, and we have not had any first hand reports from this one. Freising is very near the airport and it's very easy to take a taxi to/from the airport. Freising is also the city that the current Pope studied in and got his start and their cathedral is quite famous. More famous is likely the world's oldest brewery - Weihanstephan That's definitely worth a visit - (order the Weissbier!)
FUSSEN - 2 hours south of the Munich Airport If you would like to stay at 'our' hotel(s) in Fussen prior to July 21, please email Tour Director Scott Stephens for availability and details. You will need to get to Fussen on your own. Please notify me when your plans are confirmed. You are free to book your own accommodations over the internet in Fussen prior to July 21. You will meet us at Hotel Ruchti in Fussen between 2-3pm on July 21.
