Planet Hockey MVP Winner Name: Matt Lundin Hometown: Apple Valley, Minnesota College: Mercyhurst College (Atlantic Hockey) Season Stats: 44GP, 24-15-2, 2.55 GAA, .912 SV%, 2 SO Playoff Stats: 8GP, 7-1-0, 2.22 GAA, .924 SV%, 2 SO Sioux Falls goaltender Matt Lundin was named the Planet Hockey USHL Clark Cup Most Valuable Player. Lundin, who is committed to Mercyhurst College for next season, was the main man between the pipes all season for Sioux Falls. In the playoffs, Lundin went 7-1 with a goals against average of 2.22, a .924 saves percentage and two shutouts, including the title game.
“He’s been solid as a rock. To get a shutout in a championship game is a special thing,” Hartzell said. “That’s why he came here. He came here to lead us someplace special and that’s exactly what he did.”
A native of Apple Valley, Minn., Lundin allowed 18 goals in the eight games, but the numbers are somewhat inflated due to the seven goals he allowed in game four of the first round against Lincoln.
