GOLF

The Town of Breckenridge can boast that it is the only municipality in the world to own a Jack Nicklaus designed, 27-hole golf course. Since the opening of the course, national and regional honors have been bestowed on Breckenridge. Honors awarded by the Colorado Golfer (the State Golf Newspaper) have included; Best Mountain Course, and Toughest Mountain Course. Golf Digest "Places to Play" rates Breckenridge as a 4 -Star Award Winner, and as one of their top "Upscale Places To Play" in the nation. The course is also Zagat rated.

The golf course is situated in a beautiful mountain valley. The clubhouse sits at an elevation of 9,324 feet. At this elevation the golf ball flies farther and straighter than at lower elevations, as there is less air resistance. The air not only allows you to hit the ball farther, but also offers temperatures that make you forget about the heat of the summer. Typical daytime summer temperatures range from 65 degrees to 80 degrees. Quite rarely will the temperature exceed 80.  There are other great courses in the area.  more >

HORSEBACK RIDING

Since the 1800s, Breckenridge has been the place to be in the Rocky Mountains. Centuries ago, miners were seeking to hit it rich in the promising Colorado mountains. These days adventure-seekers and family vacationers visit Breckenridge because of all that it offers. This charming mountain town is friendly and full of life and you'll find plenty of activities to keep you busy.

Breckenridge Trail Rides: a unique opportunity to explore the spectacular mountains while you enjoy a leisurely ride on horseback. U.S. Forest Service and the Breckenridge Ski Resort have dedicated "The Breckenridge Trail" to lucky riders.

This trail takes you high into the mountains to an elevation of about 10,000 feet. You'll have a bird's eye view of the city of Breckenridge, nestled far below in the mountain valley. The winding trail is thickly forested and you'll cross lively mountain streams as you ride to the summit. Wild flowers bloom in the open meadows and the sky is bluer and the air fresher than you can imagine. If you enjoy the great outdoors, you'll savor this exciting experience with superb views of some of the most spectacular scenery in Colorado.

The rivers range from freestone to the great pocket water, and at least half of the fishing is Gold Medal, including wild trout streams that are not stocked.
